Hi, I'm Leo
a photographer based in Canada.
The Discovery of a Passion
My photography journey began in 2016 with a gift—a Nikon D3100 paired with a simple 18-55mm lens. Soon after, I moved to Canada just as autumn painted its fiery colours across the landscape. The leaves turned, and so did something within me. What started as curiosity became an imperative—a need to capture fleeting moments before they vanished.
Experimentation and Exploration
As I honed my craft, I found myself drawn to an unusual concept: The Freedom Monkey—a reflection of the human condition, a silent witness to our search for escape, for meaning. This series became my way of translating uncertainty into imagery, turning questions into compositions.
With time and practice, my skills grew, and so did my gear. I moved up to a Nikon D5500, pairing it with an 18-140mm lens—a setup that gave me the flexibility to refine my vision and push my photography further.
Parallel to this, I immersed myself in urban exploration, camera in hand, chasing light in the urban landscape. I made a couple of friends, and together, we photographed the unseen corners of the city, documenting its pulse. We gained recognition online, carving a space in the local creative scene.
From Passion to Profession
Before long, my passion became my livelihood. I stepped into the world of commercial photography, capturing the beauty of food—plates arranged like canvases, ingredients telling stories of their own. For a time, this was my daily rhythm, until the world shifted, pressing pause on many things, including my photography.
After a while of being trapped in the wild-pace of today's hustle and bustle, I started contemplating the place of hobbies and small things that bring joy and colour to our lives. One of those realisations was that when passions turn to profession, you can easily get lost, or lose the eye of wonder you once had.
In Focus Again
My passion for photography never left my thoughts. One day, I realized I had set aside something that once defined me. That thought was enough. I quit my job, picked up my camera, and stepped back into the world with fresh eyes, ready to chase the moments I missed.
Now that you know a bit more about me, feel free to reach out for any collabs or just to say hello!
